On the shores of West Seattle sits a relic of the cities past. The Kalakala ferry was a beautiful Art Deco ship, ferrying people between Seattle and Bremerton from 1935 to 1967. After it's ferry days, ship was towed to Alaska to be used as a cannery. In 2004 efforts were started to rescue and preserve the ship from its shrimp processing fate, but the efforts ended after the ship had changed several hands. The Kalakala was scrapped in 2015 with only a few items being saved from the smelter. Now, along the shore near Salty's, portholes from the Kalakala look back on the city it served for many years. . . . . . #amazing #beautiful #nautical #history #photooftheday #cityscape #urban #beauty #rust #classic #seaside #boat #view #artdeco #vintage #amazing #shore #pugetsound #landscape #seattle #trip #travel #explore #photography #adventure #seattlebucketlist #follow #backintime #outdoors #hiking
