Along the southern edge of Downtown, rises a Seattle icon. The Smith Tower, built in 1914, was once the tallest building West of the Mississippi River and the fourth tallest building in the world. Throughout its illustrious, and sometimes scandalous, past it has hosted broadcasters and bootleggers alike. The property has recently had a series of renovations including add a prohibition-era speakeasy style bar to the Observatory and a Legends of the Smith Tower exhibit that takes you through the history of the Tower. The Observatory is best known, however, for its open area observation deck that offers stunning 360 degree views of Seattle and the surrounding area. So step into the art deco elevators and be whisked back in time! #seattle #travel #architecture #city #urbanexploration #urban #photography #cityscape #skyline #classic #historic #view #views #seattlebucketlist #wa #tour #walkingtour

In a city that is changing daily, Seattle's historic sites hold a special place for us. A lesser visted, but spectacular building, sits along the edge of the International District. Built in 1911, Seattle's Union Station is a step back in time. Originally designed to serve passengers on the Union Pacific railroad, the station sat unused for 30 years after passenger service ended. Renovated to its original splendor in 2000, the station serves as the headquarters for Sound Transit. The Great Hall is open for visitors and rentals. So walk through the doors and back in time. #seattle #travel #railroad #train #trainstation #unionstation #historic #history #vintage #rail #classic #building #urbanexploration #urban #city #cityscape #seattlebucketlist
